Speaking of birthdays… I had a milestone one

I had a big birthday. A entering a new decade birthday. And, we had so much fun.

I started off my morning getting spoiled with some wonderful gifts. And, then I got hands and feet pampered. Kerry and I enjoyed a great lunch at Bazin’s on Church. Then, we picked Miss H up at school and went to National Harbor to ride the Capital Wheel.

It was really cool.

Even though it was a little rainy, we have some great views.

Miss H was so excited to be that high in the air.

We finished up with some good shopping and a nice dinner at home!

Where is the summer going so fast?

11 Jul

Kerry and I were discussing this weekend that summer was almost half over! We had another busy weekend with time at the pool, swimming lessons and a cookout with friends.

Saturday, we headed over to National Harbor to enjoy the nice weather and lunch. Miss H loves watching boats and planes and this is the perfect place to see both. She loves to wave at the people on the boats (and boaters always seem to respond). She is not quite sure why the ‘plane won’t stop,’ when she asks nicely.

She had fun running down the pier and then playing under the ‘big tent.’

But the most fun, might have been the cow bench outside of Ben and Jerry’s. No interest in ice cream (what?) but the bench was a huge hit. And, she could still see and point at the airplanes.

After lunch, it was back home so we could visit the pool. I am not sure what we would do if we did not have a neighborhood pool!

Her new favorite words this week are catepillar, motorcycle, bicycle and butterfly. We are both amazed at her growing vocabulary!

We spent time at swimming lessons (they went well this time) and enjoyed a nice cookout with friends. I have pictures of the swimming lessons (being posted later) but none of the cookout. The cookout was great because Miss H falls right between a friend’s two daughters in age so they all played so well together. Us parents joked that it was the most relaxing dinner we had experienced lately because the girls just enjoyed each other and we were able to sit, enjoy dinner and enjoy conversation. It was a nice end to a nice weekend.
