We really enjoyed the parade in Fairfax City! We had great seats along the parade route and got to see all the fun groups, bands, fire trucks and cars.
After the parade, we ended up at the pool and finished off the day with a cookout.
We did not make it to the fireworks. Maybe next year!
The rain cleared out for the rest of our vacation and everyone starting feeling better! We spent two full days at the Smith Mountain Lake State Park. They have a great beach, snack bar and playground so it was perfect for us. Miss H loved the water there- and swimming out to the platform.
We did some relaxing there too.
Miss H was really interested in the fireworks but we were not sure if she would be able to stay up so late so we spent most of the day at the beach and convinced her she needed a nap. For someone who was supposedly not tired, she fell asleep in about five minutes. We headed to Moneta for their annual fireworks and 4th of July celebration. It was a mini-carnival with music and food and we all had fun!
Miss H loved the section of bounce houses.
She was pretty disappointed when they closed down at 10pm because of the dark. But, then, the fireworks started. It was pure joy!

The show went on for about 20 minutes and they did a great job!
Friday, we headed to the Smith Mountain Lake Dam.
Again, Miss H thrilled with looking at engineering projects 🙂
We returned back to the state park and enjoyed our last full day on vacation. We had a few bumps in the road but it was still a great week!
