And we came home to this….

3 Mar

The last two weeks have been snowy, cold and then odd mixes of warmth layered with snow next. Winter can exit any time!

The after we got home for our warm vacation, we went sledding in the cold.

Miss H just wanted to eat the snow.

02162014-3

Daddy joined in too.

Then we had more cold. This past weekend it was super nice.

We got a really cool picture of Miss S jumping for bubbles.

03022014-1

She had to take a break after all that work.

03022014-2

We entertained them with a swifter too.

03012014-1

And, then the temperatures dropped 30 degrees and we got more snow.

03032014-1

Luckily, both Miss H and Miss S are fans of the snow.

Trip to Sanibel!

16 Feb

02132013-1

To celebrate Mom’s birthday, we headed south for some sunshine and beach time! It was a great way to celebrate her birthday and we all appreciated the warm weather (and missing the big snowstorm here).

From the moment we arrived, the weather was great so we took every opportunity to be outside. Miss H wasted no time jumping into the Gulf of Mexico.

02092013-2

Of course, lots of swimming led to sunbathing.

02102013-1

Sanibel is known for some of the best shelling so we spent a fair amount of time searching for shells.

02102013-5

Walking along the beach no matter the time of day was fantastic.

02102013-7

Of course, no birthday would be complete without dessert.

02092013-12

Miss H decided we should have ice cream every day we were there. No one argued.

02102013-10

We ate a lot of ice cream.

02112013-10And, we did a lot of swimming.

02102013-8

On Wednesday, we decided to take a dolphin cruise out of the Sanibel Marina.

02122013-1

I thought we would see dolphins but did not realize how close-up we would see them.

Or click here.

The Captain let Miss H drive the boat.

02112013-9

And, more importantly honk the horn.

02112013-5

She was so happy about driving and going fast.

Thursday’s weather was still nice but the wind picked up so we decided to head over to Fort Myers to check out the Edison & Ford Winter Estates. These guys had the right idea about wintering in a warm climate.

02142013-1

The two estates were really cool and we enjoyed walking around.

02142013-2

Watch out for the falling figs.

02142013-11

We had a great time at the beach and are looking forward to our next vacation. Miss H decided the next vacation should start ‘on Sunday.’
