The Middle of the Week at the Outer Banks

6 Aug

Neither Kerry or his Dad (or Miss H for that matter) have spent time on the Outer Banks so Mom and I took them to the best places 🙂 We scoped out the wedding location and decided Jennette’s Pier was really cool. Miss H enjoyed looking for sharks.

And, she found her favorite hurricane machine. Mom and I got a good laugh as Kerry, his Dad and Miss H squeezed in for the 78 mile an hour winds.

On Tuesday, we headed to Cape Hatteras to see the lighthouse and enjoy the nice drive through the National Seashore. It rained a little in the morning and by the time we got to the lighthouse, it was closed due to thunder. Kerry really wanted to walk to the top but it never re-opened while we were there.

We still enjoyed the grounds and the rain subsided while we were there.

We are so ‘those’ kind of tourists. Or at least Kerry is.

We had a yummy lunch at Sam & Omie’s Restaurant and then were ready for the beach, and luckily it had cleared up. Then that evening, we had professional photos taken by Chad from Genevieve Stewart Photography. He was super nice AND he got Miss H to smile for the camera. We are excited to see the professional pictures! It was nice to have the pictures taken at the Nags Head Pier. Here is one of mine from there.

Kerry and his dad enjoyed a kayaking trip through the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge with the groom to be and other friends. They left super early and enjoyed a morning on the water. They did see alligators at a safe distance. I like this picture that Kerry took.

Plus, the photo to prove they were actually kayaking.

While they were off kayaking, the rest of us met up with out friend Rachel at the North Carolina Aquarium near Manteo. It was a great way to spend the morning and Miss H loved all the fish, touching the stingrays and sharks (no fear whatsoever) and ‘rescuing’ sea turtles in the simulated turtle lab.

Somehow, she believed me when I said the hurricane simulator was not working there.

After we all got back home, we headed for more time at the beach. More updates to come!
