The rain did not damper our plans!

28 Apr

Since Kerry is turning 40 in a few days, I decided to make plans for a little pre-birthday celebration. I would have loved to get out of town for a few days but with his back still in recovery, staying local is best.

I wanted to do something touristy that we had not done before so I got tickets for the ‘Washington by Water’ tour that leaves from the Alexandria dock. It was definitely overcast and a little chilly but no rain for our ride.

We enjoyed some casual shipping in Georgetown (neither of us can remember when we were in a store together without Miss H). We must have been feeling guilty because we found Miss H a cute t-shirt from Patagonia. And, still no rain.

I debated about dinner reservations and finally decided on Morton’s of Georgetown. Kerry loves a good steak (but is not big on swanky restaurants that require jackets) and dinner was great. We had delicious oysters, great salads, he had steak, I had sea bass, we shared sour cream mashed potatoes and they nicely boxed up New York-style cheesecake for us to take home. Plus, they personalized out menu and were generally really nice!

It rained most of the time we were inside but ended by the time we were leaving. I was hoping we would have nice weather but the rain did not put a damper on our plans!

More celebrating to come this week!
