Our Fall Traditions

17 Oct

We have created a few fall traditions over the last several years. In 2008, I convinced Kerry that going to the Hot Air Balloon and Wine Festival would be a fun way to spend a football-free Saturday. We met up with friends and had a great time! No wine for me because I was pregnant.

Then in 2009 it rained. We had plans to go but it poured all weekend.

Last year, Kerry was recovering from back surgery but we decided to take advantage of the nice weather and visit Millwood again. Somehow, I did not take any pictures but I promise, we were there.

Not to break with any tradition, we did not see balloons or drink wine again this year. We have never seen the balloons but it still is a nice way to spend a beautiful fall day.

Kerry and Jorge enjoyed the lawn mower races while Miss H picked up flowers and leaves.

We saw fire trucks and classic cars, listened to music, ran around and tried to wear Miss H out in the kid area. Miss H was the only one who was not worn out.

On the way home, we had to stop at the coolest pumpkin patch.

Kerry and Miss H were on the hunt for the perfect pumpkin. I even heard Kerry tell her, “you can have any one here.”

She picked out one that was just her size.

If you look closely, you will see a small, green and orange pumpkin in her hand. Look closely, because it is small.

She has been carrying it around ever since.

Mom enjoyed the trip too!

On Sunday, it was time to carve our new pumpkins. Miss H thought her little pumpkin was a good candidate for being carved.

(our Internet connection just died so now I am finishing this post from my iPhone- and I can’t switch the two above photos)

And, our new pumpkin family.

Oh, I love this. And I love it that you all adore the same pumpkin patch that we do! We went there the Saturday before you guys did, I think. And we thought of you all this past Saturday, and figured that you probably went to the balloon and wine festival!
