More Weekend Fun!

2 May

Kerry, his dad and several friends enjoyed a guys night out at the Nationals’ game on Friday night. The Nationals won and I heard there were lots of laughs! Saturday morning we decided to take a trip to the National Arboretum. Kerry had never been there and it has been years since I had explored the place. It is definitely back on the list of places we should go more often because it was great.

Plus, at the Visitors Center, they have a large koi pond where you can feed the fish. It was heaven for Miss H. “Fish! Fish! Fish!”

The koi knew exactly where to go for their snack. Some of these fish were huge- like 2 feet long huge and well fed. Miss H quickly learned, ‘Here koi! Here koi!’

We lost a shoe in the pond (it was rescued) but we were convinced someone might try to go swimming.

I had to stop taking pictures because she stuck her fingers in the mouth of a large koi and thought it was funny. Meanwhile, Kerry was searching for the hand sanitizer.

After all that excitement, we headed to the columns.

Columns that use to reside at the Capitol, now reside at the Arboretum.

The weather was great (and we needed to burn some energy out of a certain toddler) so it was up the path to see the view of the Washington Monument and Capitol. It was a great vantage point and I am sure in the winter it is even better!

We walked and walked and walked and finally someone was tired. It was a nice way to spend part of a day!

Kerry and his dad share a birthday so Sunday morning was filled with presents and pancakes. Miss H had a lot of fun unwrapping the gifts. Who knew it was so exciting to get clothes in Dad’s size and golf tees!

They both had a great birthday and we continued onto more tourist attractions. More to come!

Wow, the Arboretum looks like a lot more fun than I remembered! I’ll have to put that on our list of places to take C this summer.
