Surprise Date Night!

22 Feb

I originally wrote about this on Saturday but realized my post never posted!

It was beautiful here on Friday and Kerry called to let me know he was leaving work early to wash his car. I arrived home a little earlier than normal and he was still in the driveway. My first questions was, ‘where is Miss H?’ and he said she had evening plans. Totally confused at this point- he revealed that we had dinner reservations and he had arranged for a sitter.

Off we went to walk around Old Town Alexandria, enjoy the nice weather and have a lovely dinner (and cheesecake) at The Chart House. We had a great table near the window and really just enjoyed a leisurely meal.

We even ended the evening with a stop at Babies R Us for some new sippy cups 🙂

Miss H was a little sad when we picked her up way past her normal bedtime because she was having such a fantastic evening with her friends. She reluctantly decided it was time to go home.

I have the best husband!

The warm weather did not stick around

20 Feb

It was beautiful on Friday (think 70+ degrees) but then it returned to being a little chilly with some crazy winds on Saturday. My car got nailed by a realtor sign but luckily it hit the rubber part of my front bumper and my license plate.  I think I lost one of the wipers for my headlights (which are kind of silly anyway) in the sign incident.  Anyway, we had a fun time at a friend of Miss H’s birthday on Saturday despite the cold and wind.

The theme centered around lollipops so there was a craft table for decorating lollipops.

Plus, there was giant marshmellows dipped in chocolate and sprinkles. Miss H loved the blue sprinkles (and they tinted her lips and chin so nicely).

After all the sugar, crayons and stickers they could handle- it was downstairs to play with the kitchen, trains and guinea pigs.

Miss H was not sure if the guinea pigs were ‘puppies,’ ‘bunnies,’ or ‘meows,’ but they sure loved the strawberries she fed them.

Kerry added to the creative kitchen play by making bacon.

We did sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to the birthday girl and I tried to convince Miss H about the merits of chocolate cupcakes but she was only interested in the strawberries. I guess one of us was healthy!

As promised before, here is our completed guest bath. Kerry did an awesome job! It looks so good. Now, time to do the master bath 🙂
