Even though Kerry has lived in the DC area for 6+years- there are still a few places he has yet to visit. Even though I have made several attempts to have him visit the Washington National Cathedral- today was the first time and he now wonders why it took so long. The National Cathedral has always been one of my favorite places- for the great architecture and the amazing views. Plus, it does not ever feel like you are right in the middle of a major metropolitan city. Unfortunately, the observation deck was closed today but we still had fun exploring the building.
Hadley had fun just running around and being chased by Kerry.
She thought it was so funny when he tried to ‘hide.’
Then it was back to being chased.
Since Miss H has no concept of an inside voice- we waited until after the church service was over to go inside. We figured the large congregation did not want to hear a very loud voice from a very little person.
The sun coming through the stained glass made George look very colorful.
Since the cathedral is the sixth largest in the world- it is very popular with tourists. I think we might have been one of the few people in the building who were not there for church or did not have a tour book in hand.
Since it was nice and sunny- the windows really looked great.
Originally, we were going to visit the cathedral and the zoo but after all that running around- someone was very tired and hungry so we decided to just go to lunch and save the zoo for another day.
I am sure next time I mention an event at the cathedral- that Kerry might go too 🙂 Now, we need to create a list of local places we have not been and continue to explore our fun city.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!
