Odds are now on a March baby

14 Mar

I made it through week one of ‘home rest,’ but I was informed today that I would be on it for the rest of this pregnancy. And, now I get to go to the doctor twice per week to be monitored. Fun stuff.

I am not going to start this post by complaining so for the positive things first. Baby V is perfectly great- great heartbeat, turned around, not impacted by my constant contractions, her weight and length are above average, she moves consistently and she still has a foot firmly planted in my ribcage.

When Kerry and I were at the doctor today, I got hooked up to the monitors for the non-stress test and her heartbeat is strong and consistent and my contractions are consistent but I still don’t feel them. So, still on home rest and now more appointments. I am so glad that I have great health insurance because I have gone to the doctor every two weeks since week 10, every week since week 30 and this past week I spent time at the hospital and upped my visits to two times her week. Also, I am so happy that my doctor’s office never has you wait more than 5 minutes because if I had to wait a long time at each of my appointments I would have become very grouchy. Kudos to the former Army doctor who runs a tight schedule!

Now for the complaining- being at home when everyone else is at work is really not fun. And, not being able to do things like exercise, drive or walk the neighborhood just adds to the not fun-dom. Everyone keeps telling me to embrace the quietness because we are not going to have it for a long, long time but I am bored. Luckily, I am able to do work from home so that fills some of the time and I thank my lucky stars everyday that I am not still in the hospital. Oh, and I think Kerry is enjoying the home-cooked meal when he gets home from work everyday 🙂

Fun facts about March babies:

– The word ‘March’ comes from the Roman ‘Martius’. This was originally the first month of the Roman calendar and was named after Mars, the god of war

-birthstone is an aquamarine

– if she is born before March 20th she will be a Pisces (like Leigh) or after she will be an Aries.

– One big holiday in March- St. Patrick’s Day!

– Spring officially starts on March 21st

-She could have many birthdays that fall around Spring Break.

– The official flower of March is the violet (who knew months had official flowers??)

Otherwise, a quiet weekend for us. Just meeting our pediatrician today and Leigh and Mom are coming to have lunch. Hope everyone is having a nice Saturday!
