My friend Sandy is due with her first (it is a boy) on December 6th and last night was her book-themed baby shower. Everyone was asked to bring their favorite book from childhood to the party and add to Sandy and Adam’s book collection for their new addition. Well, I made a trip to Barnes and Noble and many books in the kids section were familiar but I did find one of my absolute favorites, The Monster at the End of This Book. It has been a while since I was reading children’s books but now there are several additions of the monster book but I stuck with the original:
The book themed party was very appropriate since Sandy has been the leader of our book club. She got some great books and since we are all about the same age, most of the books were very familiar. Sandy is from Florida so as a child she never related to The Snowy Day or The Mitten but she was enjoying them yesterday. However, the most talked about book was the new children’s book about our newly elected President, simply titled Barack. (And, since most of the people in book club have a politics or media or both background it was even more appropriate). Here is Sandy with her new book:
And, Becky (the shower was at her house) made the most delicious Pineapple Bread Pudding. She even added caramel to the top and it was so good. Actually, I think all of us enjoyed all the desserts.
Otherwise, Kerry and I are having a pretty quiet week. We go in for our ‘big’ ultrasound on Monday to see if we are having a boy or girl!
