The Smithsonian Life List

26 Oct

I mentioned this in the Falling Water post but then after closer examination, we have been a few places but need to go a few more! So here is the list:

Portals into the Past
Walk the timeless streets and byways of ancient cities on three continents

-Mesa Verde- went with Dad when I was in college
–Pompeii– went with Mom in 2002

Have not been: Tikal and Petra (Kerry has been to Jordan but could not visit Petra)

Feats of Engineering
The world’s surviving architectural wonders hewed from stone and mortar beckon as ever

We don’t do well with this list. We have not been to: The Pyramids of Giza, the Taj Mahal, Easter Island or the Great Wall. But one day!

A Matter of Timing
Choosing the right year, month or even moment can make all the difference:

-The Aurora Borealis- both of us have seen

-Macchu Picchu- mom and I went in 2005

We need to visit: The Serengeti and Igauzu Falls.

Triumphs of Vision
Come face to face with history’s finest works of art and design:

The Uffizi Gallery- visited with Mom on our great tour of Italy in 2002.

Falling Water- 2008

We need to see the Louvre and Zen Garden of Kyoto.

Scale New Heights
Don’t just see nature’s most spectacular sites—experience them:

I have seen the Grand Canyon but we need to visit the Yangtze River, Antartica and Mount Kilimanjaro.

How do you compare?

I have seen Mesa Verde, Falling waters, The Louvre, Grand Canyon and the Aurora Borealis.

there are many other places i have seen that should be on the list. these include Yellowstone, Arches, Glacier and grand teton National Parks. I also highly reccomend Granda and Malaga Spain along with Bruges, Belgium.
